Fall Game Recaps

Boys Volleyball

Game 1 vs. WIG

The Boys Volleyball team started the season off with a good performance against previously unbeaten Wigwam. Strong teamwork and excellent communication proved to be the edge in the tightly contested battle. A solid serving run from Ryan S. lead the charge in game one, as the Cats put together a 25-19 win. However, Wigwam was not giving up easily and took back the momentum in game 2, overcoming a 7 point deficit to even the score, in OT 27-25, and setting the stage for the tiebreaker. In the third game, the Cats jumped out to a 7-1 lead thanks to strong serving and leadership of Anthony C. and Roman A., eventually posting a 15-9 victory. Nice start. Keep it going fellas.

Game 2 vs. HER

The Cats wasted little time taking advantage of the long busride for the Heritage Heroes as they displayed strong serving, great communication and hustle throughout the match, winning in 2 games, both 25-10. Everyone contributed and it was a great team effort across the board. Let's get those Mustangs next gentlemen!

Game 3 vs. VER

It was an unbelievable competition last night here in the Western Sky gym. Points were all hard fought and at a premium for both teams in both games. The Mustangs seemed to be on their way to victory with the lead 22-18 until Anthony C. took the serve to bring the Cats all the way back to overtime where a stingy Western Sky eventually seized the only sliver of momentum left for the victory 29-27. Game two was almost an exact copy of game one. Down again 22-18, the Cats gathered their emotions and found a way to rally and force overtime again, and stealing the match 28-26. Great job of keeping your composure guys. Gonna be another tough one tonight. Play together!

Game 4 vs. LTH

The Cats went into the lions den last night for a match with the Pride where they traditionally have a difficult time with nerves. However, the guys were prepared tonight coming out strong and taking game one 25-17. The Pride proved resourceful in game two, taking advantage of costly miscues by the Cats as our boys came up just short 23-25. Game 3 was a solid display of team play behind the strong serving of Ayden R. and great net play from everyone to seal the victory, 15-7. Keep up the good teamwork fellas!

Game 5 vs. WIG

Last night was a strong all around performance from the Wildcats as they displayed great teamwork, hustle and poise in their battle with the Jaguars. Strong serving and tactical placement at the net put the Cats in charge to take game one 25-14. Game two was a solid struggle, with the Cats falling behind 18-23 as their focus seemed to wane. With their backs against the wall, a quiet determination seemed to take over as they rallied to swing the momentum back their way, for a 27-25 victory in OT.

Game 6 vs. HER

The Cats put in a solid team effort to begin their fall break jumping out to a fast start and winning game one 25-14. While game two proved to be more of a challenge, they rallied again from behind,  to finish off the Heroes, 25-23. Great team effort fellas!

Game 7 vs. LTH

The Cats got off to a fast start with stellar team play all the way around in the first stanza. The guys played the first 8 points as good as any team could play with solid serving from Alec D. and great net play from Roman A. and Randy W. coming out on top of a stunned LTH team 25-10. The Pride would rally early in game two reversing the trend, and building confidence by putting the Cats in trouble behind by 7. The Wildcats succumbed to the threat with a short case of nerves, but eventually gathered themselves, and put together an awesome comeback, taking their match with a 25-22 victory. Final regular season game is at Verrado. Keep making progress boys!

Game 8 vs. VER

There is nothing more dangerous than playing an aggressive team with nothing to lose. This was the case last night as the undefeated Wildcats arrived for a match with winless Verrado. Game one saw the Wildcats take firm control, without playing their best 25-12. Then, everything changed. Despite a back a forth match early, the Mustangs proved every bit a formidable opponent, forcing the Cats into mental errors and sloppy play. They took the game and the momentum, 25-22. The Cats seemed to almost self destruct as Verrado seemed poised to take the match up 7-1 in the final game and time was clearly running out for Western Sky. That is until Roman A. stepped up with a thunderous spike and fearless hustle, covering much more than his zone, to ignite his teammates. They chippped away at the lead and each time Verrado seemed to be ready to finish them off, they fought back, finally gaining a lead 14-13. With Verrado serving the Cats had to break serve. After several tense volleys, a well placed spike from Ayden R. to the deep corner finished the job, 15-13. Let's go get that championsip, fellas!
