The Litchfield Elementary School District was a small school district for many years. The first school, Litchfield Elementary School, was built in 1920. 55 years later, Scott L. Libby Elementary School was built. These two schools were able to provide for the educational needs of the K-8 students in the District for 16 more years. Western Sky Middle School was opened in 1991, for Grades 6-8. The Elementary Schools then became K-5 schools.

There was then a period of rapid growth for the west valley, and the Litchfield Elementary School District in particular. Starting in 1997, the District built 10 schools in 13 years! We continue to grow. Our District has 9 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 1 K-8 school, and an Alternative School.
