Dear Thunderbird Family,

February is a short month packed with many exciting events. First, and most exciting, Arizona will celebrate its Centennial celebration this month on February 14th. This is a wonderful celebration of our state. McTeacher Night is February 9th at the McDonald’s located on McDowell Rd. and Litchfield Rd. This year, McDonald’s is counting the drive through profits so you don’t even have to come in! However, I will be tapping for tips inside. You will have to park and come inside if you’d like to see the show. Several teachers will be working behind the counter and helping inside. Many schools in the Southwest Valley participate in this school fundraiser and the top earning school receives an extra $1,000 bonus for their school from the Mellon Family. Please come to this restaurant night in support of our school. It’s a very fun evening!

Ms. Blayer will be hosting the Health and Wellness Expo this month on February 24th from 6-8 p.m. There will be activities for kids, raffle prizes, many clubs and business with information on sports, clubs, activities and more to promote health and wellness.  It was a great experience last year and this year will be no less! Ms. Blayer has secured an ambulance and EMT from Southwest Valley Ambulance!

We will begin our Young Authors Celebration on February 23rd. The students will hear from several authors including, Gary Hogg, Carly Goody, Mr. Monohan and the fabulous Mrs. B! The Spring Scholastic book fair begins on Friday, February 24th. You will have a chance to come in and read with your child February 28th for Parent Read Day. Please watch for information to come home from your child’s teacher.

I am very excited about the Palm Valley Parent Teacher Organization’s decision to invest in reliable wireless for the school. This will immediately benefit the students by better supporting our current technology. As well, we can confidently invest in further technology purchases to support student learning.

Lastly, our district is sponsoring Coats and Covers coat and blanket drive. Please consider donating a new or used coat (all sizes needed) and/or blanket for families in our community. There is a box in our front office to collect the donated items. The drop off dates are February 1st - March 1st. The items will be donated to the Auga Fria Food & Clothing Bank.

I look forward to seeing you around campus or at one of our many upcoming events!

With Thunderbird Pride,

Mrs. Sarah Pearson
Principal
