Hello Mustang Families!
As we wind down from Quarter 1, I want to take the time to say THANK YOU to our amazing PTO and Mustang Families for all of the support given to our students and staff! Having the support of our families is so important and we couldn't do what we do without YOU!! As you know, this week we have parent/teacher conferences. I strongly encourage you to find a time to talk to your student's teachers. It's a great opportunity to hear about your student's strengths and areas to work on. We LOVE meeting with our Mustang Families.
On Tuesday, Buckeye Officer Vargas, our SRO (school resource officer) will be spending time with our students to discuss a variety of risky behaviors. Some of the topics he'll be covering are threats/intimidation, bullying, sexting, social media risks, vaping/drugs and assaults. We would like to invite any parents who would like to attend to join us . 7th grade will be from 9:10-10:00, 8th grade from 10:00-10:50, and 6th grade from 10:55-11:40. We will also be hosting a parent information night on the dangers of sexting and social media on Oct 16th from 5:00-6:30 in our Media Center
Dear Mustang Families,
Student and staff safety is a top priority at Verrado Middle School. We actively cultivate strong relationships with our law enforcement and first responder partners, routinely practice evacuation and fire drills, and promote social emotional learning every day so that all Mustangs feel safe and secure at school. I am writing to update you about some recent upgrades to our safety procedures.
VISITOR CHECK IN/OUT - Upon the recommendation of our law enforcement partners, guests seeking access to our campus are required to check-in at the front office and exchange identification for a visitor badge. To exit the campus, guests are required to check-out at the front office and retrieve their identification.
LOCKED CLASSROOMS - Every classroom door is locked throughout the school day. The media center, cafeteria, gymnasium, and all other doors have limited access, as well. Students have already adapted well to this recent safety upgrade.
REPORT SAFETY CONCERNS - Communication is a two-way process and we are encouraging everyone in our school to communicate any safety concerns. If you see or hear any potentially unsafe situations, including bullying or harassment, please use the SafeSchools Alert at lesd-az.safeschoolsalert.com (website), email@example.com (email), or 623-207-1768 (text or call).Anonymous tips are welcome.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s safety and education. We are honored to partner with you in helping your child succeed at school and in life.
