Hello Mustang Families!
Dear Mustang Families,
Student and staff safety is a top priority at Verrado Middle School. We actively cultivate strong relationships with our law enforcement and first responder partners, routinely practice evacuation and fire drills, and promote social emotional learning every day so that all Mustangs feel safe and secure at school. I am writing to update you about some recent upgrades to our safety procedures.
VISITOR CHECK IN/OUT - Upon the recommendation of our law enforcement partners, guests seeking access to our campus are required to check-in at the front office and exchange identification for a visitor badge. To exit the campus, guests are required to check-out at the front office and retrieve their identification.
LOCKED CLASSROOMS - Every classroom door is locked throughout the school day. The media center, cafeteria, gymnasium, and all other doors have limited access, as well. Students have already adapted well to this recent safety upgrade.
REPORT SAFETY CONCERNS - Communication is a two-way process and we are encouraging everyone in our school to communicate any safety concerns. If you see or hear any potentially unsafe situations, including bullying or harassment, please use the SafeSchools Alert at lesd-az.safeschoolsalert.com (website), email@example.com (email), or 623-207-1768 (text or call). Anonymous tips are welcome.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s safety and education. We are honored to partner with you in helping your child succeed at school and in life.
Part of providing an engaging and supportive environment for your students is having a strong parent organization. We are extremely fortunate to have an amazing group of families in our VMS PTO. If you haven't taken advantage of joining this dedicated group of people, I strongly encourage you to reach out to them via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join us at the PTO meetings for the 2019-20 school year. All meetings are from 4:30-5:30 in the VMS media center. Children are welcome to attend. Upcoming meetings: 9/16, 10/21, 11/18, 12/16, 1/13, 2/10, 3/23, 4/20, 5/18.
