If your child is ill, PLEASE do not send them to school. They will just feel miserable while placing other students and staff at risk to become ill. If your child is ill or has a fever you will be phoned to pick them up from school.

Your child will be sent home for:

  • Fever of 100.0 or higher. **Your child must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school
  • Coughing uncontrolled by cough drops.
  • Pink/red eyes with or without drainage.
  • Vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.

If your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness, please notify the school nurse so that notification letters can be sent out.  Note that most contagious illnesses (strep throat, pink eye) require that the child is on antibiotic medication for a minimum of 24 hours before they are considered safe to return to school.

As a reminder, breakfast is the most important meal of the day!  Often students come to the health center mid-morning with a stomachache because they haven't had anything to eat since the previous evening.  Breakfast is served everyday in the cafeteria.  Food does feed the brain and it is difficult for a student to concentrate in class if they are hungry.
