Guiding Principles for the Boundary Committee

  • Current enrollment and future growth (new builds, developments, projections)
  • The number of families impacted
  • Time to and from school (maximize safety and efficiency)
  • Elementary and Middle School feeder areas and AFUHSD boundaries
  • Conclude large scale boundary revision process with enough lead time to allow families and schools to plan and prepare (December 2018). Additionally, to have new boundaries in place before Open Enrollment begins.
  • Socio-economic and diversity considerations
  • Maximum bulding capacity, class size (and sections), schools already at capacity
  • Areas who have moved recently
  • Transportation costs
  • Current Open Enrollment numbers
