Remembering Caren Walker

Caren Walker 1958-2018

Caren Sibley Walker

September 19, 1958 - November 16, 2018

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of a most beloved member of our Litchfield family. Caren Walker began her career with Litchfield Elementary School District as a classroom aid at Scott L. Libby Elementary School. She went on to teach science at Western Sky and Verrado Middle Schools. She stood out for her work ethic and positive attitude and was promoted to adviser and then assistant principal at Verrado Middle School. As the principal at Rancho Santa Fe Elementary School, Caren was a devoted Bronco. After 22 years with the District, Caren Walker retired as an assistant superintendent in 2018.

Caren lived in our community and raised her only child, Lauren, in our schools. She was brave, strong, and fully committed. She devoted her life to the care and education of children and mentored some of the District’s strongest leaders with love and intention. Originally from Mississippi, Caren was the epitome of Southern grace. She was quick to give a hug, offer a listening ear, and send a thoughtful thank you note. She had a passion for the arts and a heart for the underdog. May we always remember the impressive career and beautiful life of a strong leader to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for her remarkable service to Litchfield Elementary School District.
